An
alliance between ten institutions has been created with
the purpose of contributing towards educating civil
society and to creating communities concerned with issues
concerning Colombia’s integration into the international
system. Institutions and agencies include the San Carlos
Academy of Diplomacy; the National Center for Strategic
Studies on Security and Defense – Superior War
School; Friedrich Ebert Stiftung in Colombia; Los Andes
University’s El Rosario University’s Center
for Political and International Studies; Javeriana University’s
Political Science Department; Externado de Colombia
University’s Finance, Government and International
Relations Department; and the National University’s
Political Studies and International Relations Institute.
The above mentioned institutions started working in
this project in March 2003.
Six pluralistic and interdisciplinary working groups
debate over issues of great interest and importance
for Colombia, such as: integration; regional security;
international organizations and forums; neighboring
countries; relations with Brazil, Venezuela, the United
States and the European Union. In doing so, the working
groups seek to create a favorable environment in which
to share of ideas that could encourage discussion
between various sectors interested in this agenda.
Civil servants, entrepreneurs, trade union members,
academics, members of the armed forces, diplomats
and international relations experts are invited to
the meetings held by the working groups as a way of
encouraging them to contribute new ideas and different
perspectives regarding Colombia’s position concerning
these issues.
