Fescol has been dedicated to promoting a reflective
analysis of the situation in Colombia since 1.979.
Fescol has been considered throughout the past decades,
as an open forum working primarily and systematically
on strengthening democracy, and on promoting and consolidating
the rule of law and observance of Human Rights. Alongside
with other civil society organizations, Fescol works
on analyzing the Colombian conflict and on presenting
different proposals with which to overcome it as well
as on strengthening political, social and territorial
processes. Furthermore, it aims to deepen Colombia’s
insertion in the international spectrum, its regional
security and integration. Together with some social
movements, Fescol supports active enforcement of a
democratic culture that respects social equality.

Carlos Academy of Diplomacy |

The San Carlos Academy of Diplomacy is a division
of the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Relations, responsible
for educating individuals who wish to become foreign
servants, so they can efficiently provide and attend
any requirement or obligation related to Colombia’s
foreign policy and strengthen Colombia’s negotiation
capabilities.
Together with the Institute of High Studies for Development,
the French Government and the Externado University
of Colombia, the Academy is in charge of managing
the Masters Program in ‘Analysis of Contemporary
Political, Economic and International Problems’.

The
National Center for Strategic Studies on Security and

The National Center for Strategic Studies on Security and Defense was created
on October 10, 2002, as an office appointed to the
Colombian Superior War School. The Center produces
research documents on a permanent basis, on issues
related to security and defense with the purpose of
advising and providing possible solutions to the Military
High Command and the National Defense Ministry, in
order to achieve national objectives. Similarly, the
Center analyses political, economic, social and military
realities, as well as how these realities interact
in national as well as international scenarios. Analysis
consider issues such globalization and integration;
cooperation and conflict; relationship between politics
and defense; and military policy among others, with
the purpose of putting forward recommendations to
increase the country’s security and development.

Andes University Center for International Studies –CEI- |

|
|

|
Founded in 1982, the Center for International Studies
(CEI) is a program created by the University’s
Political Science Department. Its main objective focuses
on researching and disclosing foreign policy issues
with the purpose of promoting and disseminating debates
on Colombia’s foreign relations. In addition
to occasional documents and books, the CEI publishes
a magazine under the name Colombia Internacional since
1988.

CEPI includes research projects that are undertaken
by the Political Science, Government and International
Relations Departments. The Center is currently managing
and coordinating different research projects, working
groups, research centers and projects that have 13
full-time investigating teachers and 10 research assistants.
The Center is focusing on two research themes: COLOMBIA
WITHIN ITSELF and COLOMBIA TOWARDS THE INTERNATIONAL
COMMUNITY. Within these themes, it works on issues
such as Colombia’s new forms of identity/differences
with other countries as well as on aspects related
with international, regional and national security,
taking into account both a military and a non military
standpoint.

The Department has one undergraduate degree in Political
Science; four Masters Degrees in Political Studies,
International Relations, Latin American Studies and
Social Policy; five Specializations in Public Opinion,
Political Marketing, Municipal Governments, Conflict
Resolution, International Integrating into System
and Social Policy; a Human Rights and International
Relations Institute; and an Andean Observatory. Research
is undertaken in a disciplinary or interdisciplinary
way and is financed either by external organizations
or by the Javeriana University itself.

The Department offers an interdisciplinary education,
based on knowledge of international relations, political
science, economics, finance, administration and law.
Education is based on a pluralist philosophy, open
to every school of thought -apart from those that
promote intolerance- and considers diversity as a
valuable treasure. In doing so, it offers comprehensive
education where theory and analysis complement each
other in order to open a space for decision making
processes and project managing for innovating leaders,
in accordance with national and international realities.

University’s Political Studies and International
Relations Institute - IEPRI |

|
IEPRI was created by the National University of
Colombia in 1986 with the purpose contributing towards
strengthening democracy and consolidating the country’s
international ties. Through its research agenda, IEPRI
has carries out teaching activities via undergraduate
and graduate courses within the different careers
offered, including those that are part of the Masters
Degree in Political Studies. IEPRI has widely disseminated
its work through its documentation center, its weekly
column in a national newspaper, forums, workshops,
meetings, national and international seminars, consultancy
and commissions.
